Default Clymer service manual

I'm looking around to get a service manual for my 08 softail deluxe. Anyone have any experience with the clymer service manual? From what I can see, it seems like a pretty detailed service manual. 700 pages that includes step by step procedures for just about everything.

You'll be better off with the HD Service manual. About the best $60 you can spend. Everything is covered. I use mine for everything I need to do, just to make sure I'm doing it right. Good Luck!

I agree with the 3 above, the factory manual would be my first choice. The others make a good supplement to the MOCO manual they each have a few things the other doesn't.

Well that answers that question lol. Now, is the hd owners manual what you guys are calling a service manual? Or is there actually an owners manual and a different hd service manual?

The factory service manual is what you want, as others have said. No, it is not the same thing as the owner's manual. The owner's manual is what comes with a bike and is similar to the owner's manual for a car.

Thanks, that's what I figured. Searched around and was only finding the owners manual which I assumed wasn't going to get into detail as far as service work. I'll keep searching. Thanks everyone.

Yes. There is an Owners Manual, what you get when you buy the bike new. The factory service manual is separate and is what is used by the HD wrenches. You can buy the service manual at your favorite HD dealer. If you are going to do your own work, don't think twice about getting the HD Service el Manuel.
