Question HD tools for the road

My 2016 Harley Street has no space to keep even the registration. Until I decide whether to get saddlebags, trunk-bag or sissy-bag, I just bought an 8" inch fork-bag for a few necessities, including a powerful LED 6" light with red emergency flashlight. I consider getting the HD has a compact set but having little MC experience, I would like to know if this HD compact tool-set has what I need. It doesn't provide the total measurement (forkbag is 8")

DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER TOOL-BAG SUGGESTIONS???

I bought a HD tool-set to have in the garage. Im not a wrench-kind-of-lady but I believe in being self-sufficient. I gave all my late husband's tools to my son-in-law, except for one of the power-pressures to fill air in my tires, HD-stool with space for tools and I kept all his HD straps. I'm just trying to have "basic tools, knowing I'll call for reinforcement if something comes up I can't handle. Or I'll ride it or drive it on a truck to a dealership.

BTW I'm in California and buy a lot from Wisconsin Harley-Davidson. Often their prices are discounted, I save 9% sales-tax and they ship quick and for free on orders over $99.

It appears that one would likely have all the things you need to get you out of a bind on the road side. If I recommend a ready to go seat like that to folks I always steer them toward the CruzTools H3 set
https://www.revzilla.com/product/cru...idson-tool-kit

The CruzTools set can be picked up at many different places and around $100 is about the best price I have seen. I was given one of these 20 years ago and found it had most things for little fixes on the road. Later when I was looking for a set for another bike and I just duplicated the contents of the Cruz set at Lowes by buying individual tools and saved money over the price of the ready to go set. The link I provided for the Cruz set has a list of all its components and I find that in most cases you can purchase the individual tools and save a few bucks

Some folks will say there is no need for tools that all you need is a cell phone, credit card and belong to AMA, HOG, AAA etc that will provide towing. That is true but honestly I prefer to have a few tools in there if I need to replace a taillight or signal bulb or tighten a loose nut or bolt. To be honest in the past 15 years I think I have used the tools on my bike twice for my own bike and each time it was just to tighten something that I noticed was loose at a gas stop. I have loaned tools on the roadside numerous times to folks that had roadside issues and no tools.

So although I may not have much of a need for the tools, they take up very little room and I view it like I do Insurance, maybe I will never use it but if I need it then I will be glad it is there

That's the same tool kit that I got with my CVO Limited. I'm not home but it wraps up fairly compact. I would think it would fit in your bag

Back in the day always had a leather fork bag always had pliers, screwdriver with multi tips, adjustable wrench, small coil of mechanics wire, roll of electrical tape, set of spark plugs with socket, tie wraps, points and condenser and a rag. Also a flask filled with JD incase the wait for help too long then there were no cell phones.

I match each tool in the Cruz H3 kit with HFT. The cost of the HFT was a fracture compared to Cruz H3 kit. I also figure if the tools are stolen off the bike, no bike deal.

I was thinking the same thing. You could probably get all of the tools in the HD bag for about $30-$35 at Harbor Freight. And if you already have an 8" fork bag you don't need the wrap. But if you did want the wrap, I bet they have something like that at HF as well for just a few$.

One more thing. I have never needed to gap a spark plug while out on the road. I find it interesting the the HD tool-kit has a plug gap gauge in it.
