It has an electric reverse.

It pretty loud, but it works when you need it...til it doesn't (poor HD design), but that's what the warranty is for. In a little over 100k miles riding on TG's I've had 3 warranty replacements of the reverse motor.

About the only thing a Ural has that might be neat on a Harley is the geared reverse. Has to be in neutral, reach way down and move a lever that sometimes works the first try, and then it's in reverse, use the clutch like any other gear. Then, if you're lucky, it doesn't fight you or grind too awful putting it back in forward range. I rarely use it, but when 750 lbs slides into a ditch nose down, it's handy. That's another story.

Yeah, a lot of guys with Harley Trikes switch over to a mechanical reverse...cost is around a grand, about the same to replace the electric...I would rather have a mechanical reverse, but the warranty pays to keep the electric one working.

Went out to the "heated" home shop today. Had some work to do on the Tri-Glide.

Well....

...this is what I saw when I got out there...

...it's been three days since I was riding in the snow and ice, and it has melted off the TG some, but then just froze on the floor!

Obviously the heater for the home shop is not up to the task when it is in the teens outside.

I took these photos, turned around, and went back in the house where it was warm! No work done on the bikes today!!!

Photo from my ride on Friday morning-

Posted up a video above...in the first part of it you can hear the loud whining of the electric reverse motor.

Nice exhaust note. What are you running on the Tri?

I think I would have felt just a little tense as that semi went by, seen a few of those suddenly go sideways, scary. Got rear ended by one (in a car) that jackknifed on ice back in the 70's, didn't get hurt, car totaled.

My Ural wouldn't cough the other day at -10, but today at +4, it started. Didn't go far at all, roads salted heavy. Just stayed on the side and rode to a neighbor's house where I saw her shoveling, said hop in and see what it feels like. Then... back to the garage. I think it rolled over to the next 10th of a mile... Felt good just getting outside and having a motor running, but kinda frustrating not going through all the gears, too.
