A Day in the Life...
#942
I haven't had a chance to put many miles on it over the winter... it is at about 800 now.
As you know, I have the Deluxe so some of my complaints don't carry across to other M8 softails. I simply love the look of a Deluxe so that was the sole reason for my choice over the Slim, which was also strongly considered.
I personally love the bike... The throttle response is very snappy compared to other stock Twin Cam models I have ridden. Like all Harleys, the fit and finish of everything is on point and the paint is flawless. The factory LED Lighting is nice as well. The suspension is probably my favorite thing about the bike. Not because it is perfect but because it is good enough that I won't need to spend the money to upgrade it. These new softails ride and maneuver very well right out of the box. Unlike Kevin, I don't spend 40 days on the road at a time so a vastly superior suspension system isn't a priority and these M8 suspensions are very impressive IMO.
The bike felt a little cramped and not very ergonomic in terms of leg/foot positions. Necessity breeds innovation so Devin and I worked on CNCing the Floorboard extensions that brought the floorboards out and forward. It was quiet...Not like Stock Harley Quiet... Like Honda Rebel quiet. I rode it home from the dealership on a Tuesday evening and cut the baffles out and put in the TTI the following day. I haven't ridden it in the Mississippi heat yet so I can't speak on heat being an issue for me yet but i suspect additional cooling components will be needed.
I was a little disappointed that it didn't include a passenger pillion or passenger foot placement components. Would have been nice to have a heel toe shifter as well.
The Turn signals aren't very attractive and there isn't a viable option to change those at this time.
Overall I am very satisfied with it

Rode the TG each of the last 3 days, getting the break-in miles done. For me, the stock handlebars are horribly uncomfortable...shoulder starts hurting within 15 minutes. But I'll have the new bars installed soon.
Riding the Softail today. Gotta go up to Memphis and did not want to get stuck in traffic on the TG without it fully broken in.
