I am going to the dealership with intentions of purchasing a 2017 iron 883, what tips would you give for negotiating?
Only extras I'm interested in is a new Derby cover and bike cover.
I know they will start at MSRP, 8,949 + freight, where should I start?

Don't have any "intention".
Put on your Poker Face.
Offer a deal/price, that's reasonable. Be prepared, to walk. Iron 883's, are a dime a dozen.
Tell 'em you want 15% off parts, for two years. Tell 'em you want the 1,000 mile service, for free. Fug the "Set-up" fee.
Research, and be willing to travel 50 miles, for a deal.
Good luck. Let us know what happens.

I think a Street Bob gets you a lot more bike for just a little bit more money. It used to be that Sportsters were half to one third the price of a big twin, but these days, the price difference between a base Dyna and a Sportster isn't very much.
Regardless, be prepared to walk away without flinching.

What does www.seedealercost.com have to say?

You didn't mention if you had any previous riding experience or not but regardless, in addition to your safety riding gear (helmet, glasses/goggles, boots, gloves and a leather jacket) I HIGHLY recommend that the first thing that needs to be on ANY motorcycle before leaving the dealership is an engine guard (or as some call them--crash bar).
Even if you just lose you balance and allow the bike to fall on it's side that "crash bar" will pay for it's self on the first incident!
Enjoy the h**l out of that new "freedom machine", and most of all ride safely!
