Default New...Need Advice

I need some advice. I haven't been on a motorcycle before. I'm signed up for the safety course that starts this week, but are there other things that I should be doing beforehand. I know it's a big bike for a starter. I am 6'2", 220lb. I did have a quick disconnect installed to allow the tour pak to be off while I learn.

Usually I can ascertain your bike model or type through clairvoyance but it's just not working tonight. Might need more clues.

There are a million threads on this. Everyone who started on a small bike will tell you that it was safer, cheaper, and taught them how to ride properly.

Everyone who bought a big touring bike as their first bike, and lived to tell the tale, will say do that. You kind of put the cart before the horse, so all I'm going to say is "Good luck."

Advice before class? Sure.

When was the last time you rode a bicycle? Go ride one in a parking lot.

Don't "party" after day one. You're going to want to be 100% fresh for day 2. Trust me on this.

The best advice that I can give you is to leave "Us" out of your decision. You're a grown adult, I think, and it's best to make your own decisions.

Just relax and enjoy. A six-pack or two before the class should help. Nice bike choice dude. I like your style!!

Normally they have bikes for to use and you don't use your own. We did the MSF course on little Buells.

And the people that 'bit off more then they can chew' and either had accidents, or realized riding a motorcycle wasn't for them, aren't here to share their experiences.

Do not think that removing the tour pack will make a big difference.
Still a heavy bike.

You are big enough, welcome to another world.

Just wondering why you chose this bike, must have run into a good salesman. Good choice anyway. You bought this bike and never been
on a bike. Ride on.
