Where to put tent
#11
At 53, and neither young or poor, I still don't mind hauling my camping equipment around and using it when I can. I can store a tent, air mattress, sleeping bag with liner and camp chair in Harley's Collapsible Luggage Rack Bag on the Tour Pak rack without expanding it to the larger size. I still eat out so there is no cooking equipment required. I was concerned about the additional weight up that high but found I got used to it fairly fast. All items in my camp pak were specifically purchased at back packing stores and will fit in the saddle bags if I had to. Even my Helinox Chair One folds up very small and is surprisingly comfortable.

I have a stove and cookset that is as small as a small can of coffee..I store the jet burner inside the cookset...the fuel bottle is only about 3 inches across and three high...I put the stove and fuel in my side bag usually...You can cook most anything with the jet burner...great also for a quick hot beverage.

Wife and I crossed the country more than once with camping gear.
One trip had bad weather, we stayed in motels a lot.
About the fifth time we unloaded the camp, carried it into the room,
loaded the camp in the morning, well..
Camping gear stayed home after that.
For me, motorcycle camping is for the young or poor. We are neither.
Trailers or trikes change the rules of course.

At 61 I'm also neither young nor poor, I camp because I like too.
Have met a lot of great people in campgrounds across this country, something you may not experience sitting in your hotel room.

Perhaps I should have given more background. We rode and camped a lot.
I mean A LOT. I will spare you the numbers. First liar has no chance.
The OP asked for opinions. Give him yours or not. Do not waste time
harassing me.
I agree with you. Meeting people in campgrounds is great.
So is watching TV as sheets of ice come down.
And riding away in the morning without extra weight.
