2014 Harley VRod Muscle Stock, 2500 miles, blown motor
I bought a 2014 Vrod Muscle with 2500 miles on it. i took it home, went for a ride and about 7 miles into the ride the engine blew. The oil was full and it just died. Took it to the Harley Dealer, they ripped the engine apart to see that the rear cylinder liner and piston were destroyed. There were no temperature lights on it just died. The dealer went to Harley Davidson with the issue as it looked to be a manufacturing defect as the bike was all stock. Harley Davidson said that because i am the third owner and the oil was not changed at 1,000 miles, that they could do nothing about it. I have been riding japanese bikes all of my life with anything from 3k-40k miles and never had this type of experiance. I thought i would buy a Harley Davidson as I liked the VRod and this is my experiance. This bike is supposed to have a bullet proof motor as well. I guess i found the right bullet straight from Harley Davidson. Anyone else have a similar experiance? I paid $12k for a Harley, $700 for the dealer to tear down and examine the engine, and now have to pay $7k just for the new engine without the labor to install it!

De you test ride the bike before you bought it? How can you expect Harley to warranty it when you are third owner? Any engine will fail without proper maintenance and if it is abused.
Besides, your story is complete bullshit because that type of catastrophic failure would give you many indications that something is wrong before hand such as poor running, unusual noise, etc.
If your story is true, your complaint is with the person you bought it from.

That sounds like 2500 miles, one quarter of a mile at a time.
Look at the inside of the rear fender for molten rubber granules.
Check social media for race videos on your bike, especially if you live near a track.
How much did you pay for the bike? (never mind I see you paid $12,000)

I'm sorry, but the only thing I can take away from this is the thought: "Thank God! For once the bullet has missed me! Is this a sign that after 67 years of being on the shitty end of the big stick that the worm may have turned? Is this just setting me up with false hope of turning my life around just to have those hopes dashed on the shore of despair?" Sorry, being self absorbed, like I am, precludes me from offering any solace to your situation.

I think this is a BS comment from the dealer. OTH, maybe the previous owners did want the dealer to discover race mods during the 1000 mile service.
