Accident at ATM
Well after all these years of riding it happened. Last night I was number three in line for the ATM at the local bank. An old gentleman in a Toyota pulled in behind me and I went back to looking forward. A few seconds later, yep hit from behind and pushed into the car in front of me. Down I went but I was fine. Bike got pushed along the ground for about five feet before he hit his brakes and stopped. My pipes left two very nice melted spots on his front bumper. For the bike, well crash bar left side bent back a little, highway pig bent, saddle bag guards bent, rear fender bent, both pipes bent and his hood hit the tour pack so all scratched up. Front tire hit the car in front of me but slid off to the side so no damage that I can see up front. the old guy was 89 and he said he was heading to BINGO and just stopped to get some cash. He said he looked down at his wallet and took his foot off of the brakes,,, good thing when he hit me he did not hit the gas!!! Funny thing is the lady in the car that he pushed me into was ALSO going to BINGO and they chatted and the woman said she would HOLD HIS PLACE at the bingo table!! She said her car,, with the long rubber mark on the bumper,, was not damaged enough to hang around but did give me her name and phone number. Local PD got over and I had them complete the information exchange document so I had a report number. Good thing is my bike and his car are covered by the same insurance company so hope all goes well!! I road the bike home and did not notice anything odd in alignment but when I get to the shop we shall see. This weekends plan for a nice ride are now,, not happening!!! Dang it!!!

I would say the the morale is to stay out of ATM drive-thru's.
Me? I always go to the walk-up. Same at fast food joints and anything else that has a drive thru.
Good to hear no injuries, and I hope things work out well getting the bike fixed up.

Applies to younger drivers too. On Monday was working a major vehicle accident in a HS parking lot. 18yo "confused" the gas and brake" tore off the front end of an Accord and proceeded to hit another car. Cited for improper backing and reckless driving. He didn't seem to realize the financial impact on the parents insurance coverage.
