Default Depressed, yet excited !!!

I ride a black cherry 05 fatboy with a 95 engine upgrade. For the past 6 months or so, I have been looking at different bikes and was thinking about buying something new. The thing is, I really like my bike and thought...what is it about my fatboy that I would want to change

I want more speed and a personalized paint job.

After spending a few months researching options and ideas, the bike was dropped off at a builder a week and a half ago. He is building the 95 to a 106 and removed the tins so I could shuffle them off to the painter. Sticking with black cherry pearl base, only more black than the stock color that came with the bike. Letting the painter kinda do his thing as far as pin stripping and other colors that will compliment the bikes classic look.

The builder will have the engine finished by Wednesday, Painter will be finished on Thursday, bike should be back together on Friday. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can start breaking in the bike over memorial weekend.

So yeah, I am depressed that I haven't ridden in awhile...perfect weather out here in SoCal....but I am so excited to get the bike back and get out on the road. This is almost worse than a child waiting for X-Mas morning to open their gifts.

Couple pics of how the bike looked prior to dropping it off....

05 fatboy

I love the look of the screaming eagle race pipes on the bike now but will be ditching them for D&D Lowcats on this upgrade. They were the weak link in the 95 setup and it only managed 70hp / 85tq. I also picked up a PM max flow air cleaner to replace the SE unit on the bike in the pics.

I am cautiously optimistic that everything will go as planned and I can be out riding this coming weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Man, that is a hell of a nice bike to think about stepping away from. I think you made the right call about keeping her and doin paint and motor work. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

That's why I have two bikes so one can be in the shop and I can still ride the other. The paint sounds like it will be sweet, post some close ups.

That is one SA-WEET lookin' Fatty, but I woulda kept the paint stock the way it is...I can't see any painter making it look better than that 2-tone Black Cherry & Black Pearl, but that's just me. Maybe just a little striping, or a small airbrush pic on the rear or front fender, but that's it. I've always been a fan of Harley stock paint.

Sounds like a great decision. You have a really nice bike, you will have a super sweet bike. I hope it all comes together for you on time.

Ride safe and enjoy.

Waiting to see the end result; reminds me of my FB. By the way, isn't that the diner used in an episode of NCIS?
