With so many years of riding you can handle this.

You may have a riding buddy now. Like it or not.

Negative. Please just direct him to a BRC. Please don't start teaching him techniques that experienced riders use, or bad habits. You will only be making the rider coach's job more difficult, and the new rider more uncomfortable when he has to re-learn things. Trust me, I see it every weekend (MSF RiderCoach).

If you really want to teach people to ride, become a rider coach. It is lots of fun, rewarding, and lots of work.

I didn't take a MSF class when I got my Glide Nine years ago. Reason being is I grew up riding. As it had been a few years since I had ridden anything more than my Zuma (GF allowed Zuma when she bought her daughter a well used Yama spree) I took my time to get readjusted. Well it took two years before I started wearing on the floorboards. I just had to do the time to get adjusted to riding an 800lb+ top heavy scoot. Now theirs not much left of the floorboards, but I am still riding on the original clutch plates on an 11 year old bike with 130,000 mile on it. The last 60K riden like I stole it!
An MSF class might have very well subverted some of my adjustment time. As much as I don't want to suggest, I believe your friend would fare well from taking one or two of the classes. Tell him you want him alive and well to ride with for years to come. It might sink in

As far as the stalling part, I believe he would benefit more by you teaching him in a parking lot, then go find a hill to practice on. It'll be a 1 on 1, full time working on just that 1 aspect. That doesnt require an instructor who has others to teach and a time frame to work with on a flat parking lot.
If he killed it a few times and by you teaching him this single feat, he can then concentrate on the riding part by an instructor.

You want to teach someone to ride a two wheeler while you are on a three wheeler?
Straight to a MSF course for your Street riding friend.

Great seeing you and your buddy at the dealer this morning. He looks pretty young to be a Msgt.

Interesting how times have changed. Back "in the day" it was no issue.
Seems everyone is thinking the gay factor now.
Good on you 4X4 for getting him there.
