I always tell people that I don't wanna teach them my bad habits that I have developed in the last 35 years,,,take a class, learn the correct way

If you're worried about teaching him something wrong, take the class with him. Sounds like you could use an update too.

How much can a guy on two wheels learn about riding by following a guy on three wheels. The skills and techniques required are way different. I agree with those that say have him take an MSF course.

Two books I got from Amazon: Proficient Motorcycling and Maximum Control. Paperbacks, large, lots of pictures and lots of good information. Not expensive.

Just like with the practical part of getting an endorsement, focus on dodging obstacles (cones) and learning panic stops using both brake levers.
It can be fun for both beginner and experienced riders.
