Is wd-40 safe on motorcycle paint. I was spraying some on my foot pegs to oil them and keep the clips from rusting. Is it safe to leave wd-40 sit on the bike like this. Anyone used this before in this aspect surely?

 

Used wd-40 to remove tape spooge from the rear fender. Left it on about 10 mins. No damage.

Might look for stainless clips if your are corroding.

 

Mine is. But they said spraying some wd 40 on it every so often will keep it from corroding. Just didn't want it to hurt paint

 

WD-40 could only be a problem for paint if it was just sprayed on, before the aromatics evaporated, and they got underneath the paint layer somehow.

 

ive definitely had greenhats detail work trucks with wd, pb blaster, and zep. The only problem ive noticed is dust sticks to it like crazy. It works great though for cleaning up petroleum based messes.

 

WD is great for getting bug guts and asphalt tar splatter off of paint work. Never had a problem with it hurting the paint.

 

I have always thought that WD40 is a better cleaner than a lubricant. That's how I've used it for years

 

Love the WD. I used to power wash my dirt bikes and then spray every part except the brakes and rotors generously with WD. Works in to crevices and removes water and protects about everything. I have used it on paint to remove sticky stuff but I always assume it takes off my wax so I would reapply.

 

A friend that owns a car wash once told me that the tar remover is basically WD40. After a long trip in my truck. I used WD40 to remove the bugs and tar from the front and sides. It worked great and no problem with the plastic grill or paint.

 

Use it for Yrs and I've never a problem getting it on the paint.
