I've had two bikes, both metrics, that dropped because of the kickstand. Once in a parking lot when a young person let his car door swing wide. The door bumped my bike, unweighted the kickstand, the spring retracted the stand and over she went, knocking the car door closed. That was a Yamaha dual purpose bike. The other time a strong gust of wind unweighted the stand, and, again, the spring retracted the stand and down it went. That was a sport bike.
I trust the Harley jiffy stand completely, but I would never trust the metric kickstands.

need the weight of the bike to ''lock'' it in.....I'm probably just a sentimental old fool wishing for some more of yesteryear albeit from a kickstand of all things......thanks for all the replies.
