well, consider it was 2008-2009 when they did that, and there was a lot of, uh, other stuff going on here in that time period.

I'm speechless.

I have an XDiavel, which is probably the best motorcycle I've ever ridden. I also have a Dyna and am getting ready to buy an Ultra.

This could be epic if Harley really embraced it and did it right. Or it could be bad for both brands.

According to what I'm reading online, Indian is aware of this and is apparently also interested in acquiring Ducati.

Wow. I sure never saw this coming...

Indian is discounting their bikes? First I head of them doing that.
Polaris has heavy discounts on their ATVs, at least on the base models.

The MoCo has to do so to survive the coming years. One will see a concentration of all manufacturers of motorbikes around only a few owner, mother companies. Polaris Industries is one of them, the other conglomerates will be formed by Yamaha and/or Honda, the Triumph Group will be one and the Germans comes with the BMW Group. So, to survive (and emphasized with the coming isolation policy of Trump) the MoCo 'eats or will be eaten'.

That seems like an odd choice to pick between. Could have seen a comparison between the XDiavel and VRod maybe. Nice pick, I love the fat boy and the XDiavel is down right cool and I am sure an excellent machine.

For me Ducati like HD is down right cool. They both have soul and a presence in the market. I hope this works out and is a positive game changer for HD.

On the local news this morning they implied that HD's main interest in Ducati is to expand the HD brand in Europe. I did not consider that much and fine it interesting.

Could you please define that and explain how it affects Harley Davidson's survival?

I view Harley’s potential bid as a way to get to market fast with shiny red sportbikes that’ll attract young buyers and appease shareholders. Like Harley, Ducati has strong brand recognition and a loyal following.

Purely from a "sexy sound" aspect, a Duc with Termi's wins hands down. Altho, a cammed, carbed EVO does come close.
