Same thing I was thinking. Didn't Harley learned its lesson after they sold MV Agusta? The move was made to focus on the HD brand long-term.

Interesting...

I would love to see a Harley/Ducati inspired naked street fighter, for sure.

V-twin 4 life! Or until they're killed off like Buell...

I think this could be very good. Ducati is a better brand than MV Agusta was. Buell was too early.

Ducati has a very nice diverse line up, getting them in Harley showrooms would/could really make them more common.

This could really get more people from the younger demographics into motorcycling.

I for one hope this goes through.

Default Not A Good Thing

I certainly enjoy my Harley, which is the 3rd one I have owned, but time to separate the HD machine from the HD Corporation. H Corp has a long history of pissing away money with no results, even back to the AMF days. Remember Holiday Rambler, HD golf carts, Nova Project, V-rod engine line that never expanded, MV Augusta, and lastly Buell. All investments that never went anywhere. All Ducati would represent is a distraction to Corporate management's attention. You really think the average Ducati owner wants to hang out at the HD dealership? Time for them to buckle down, improve the bikes, and develop a marketing strategy that moves beyond the "lifestyle" BS.

To be fair, Buell never produced a bike anywhere near Ducati caliber.

I'm kind of wondering if this has anything to do with Harley's flat-track woes.

I'm with you. The difference between Ducati, MV Augusta and Buell, is that Ducati is successful in it's own right. The other two, niche brands that depended on others for some aspect of their production. Just about everyone who likes hot street bikes, mentions Ducati at the top of the "Dream Bike" list.

Somebody mentioned "Naked Street Fighter." I like this one. If I didn't have a garage full of toys already, it would be cool to add to the stable....

Is there that many ding dongs that just "hang out" at the dealerships?? What the hell is there to do at them? I stop in when I need a part or something, check out the used inventory, for no good reason really, and then leave. Doesn't seem to be too much there to do. Sounds like you do though. Maybe explain to me how that's a "lifestyle". Do you hang out at the Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, etc dealers also???
