Default 1948 Panhead takes road trip from Co to CA

When I see stories like this, it makes me remember that I have to do a cross country ride sooner rather than later. Check out the full story on the HP.

Cool story but I'm still trying to work out how it's 4500 miles from CO to Cali...

I don't get that either. Maybe he did 2 round trips plus a few side trips?? Maybe it's BS. I'm leaning towards BS at this point.

Panheads made cross country runs all the time back in the old days under much worse conditions. Why is it news when one crosses a couple of state lines these days?

yeah the distance is odd . if it's correct that's an average of 214 miles per day over 3 weeks . i wonder how much of that time was spent waiting for parts in some one street town in the middle of nowhere

but i must say , takes some ***** to even attempt it .

Nothing new here. In 1950 my Dad & his navy buddies took a 4 day trip from Treasure Island to the Grand Canyon. All of them were riding Harleys. My Dad was riding a 1950 Panhead. Folks traveled on motorcycles back then, too, & they didn't need infotainment systems to do it either....

Those are actually comfortable. I once had them on my panhead.

And I'd like to see his map, if he had one...or maybe he didn't and that's how he pulled on the miles. And the gas can is no surprise with the 2.5 gallon tank, if it's that big.
