Handlebar Insert....Thing....?
 

Anyone know what this is called? I'd like something other than a plastic insert here. Ideas welcome. Thanks!

The online parts microfiche refers to it as an "INSERT, HANDLEBAR COVER". The service manual refers to it as a "decorative plate".

Thanks. I've tried searching those very words on the MoCo website, and I don't get anything. Something aftermarket would be fine as well. Just looks unfinished to me.

What year is your bike? You could always go with the one from the '14-later Road King.

Yeah, I was looking at that one, but I can't find a part number that comes up on a search of the HD website.

and you won't find it on the company website. that is for parts and accessories. this item is an oem part. for that, you'll need the parts microfiches. I prefer this one as it has the 2017s loaded as well: http://shop.outpostalaska.com/OEMpartfinder.htm

For a 2014 RK, it is part 61400159 (Insert, Handlebar cover). Click on the parts list picture From Behind provided and you will see it.

It is just under $20.

I've never ordered parts from them, I just use the fiche to look stuff up. it's a great resource for finding out what parts fit where, or if you like a oem part from one bike and want to order it for your bike....

there are several discounters that you could order from, but for the small price of that item, probably cheaper to get it from your local. unless they charge shipping too.

Thanks. It is Harley's Framed Layback License Plate Mounting Kit; part 60193-07.

I've had it for years. When I get around to it I will change it out for a curved layback license plate holder.
