I had a few problems when I went to school. Definite a different time. Luckily, the advice my father gave me was perfect. "Son, be brave don't start it. Next time they start be ready for them as they approach, nail the biggest guy out of the bunch right in the mouth as hard as you can. Be ready to take a few shots. But they will never mess with you again." I did so .. the dude grabbed his bleeding lips and backed off. None of the bunch ever messed with me again.

I kind of always thought this would backfire.

That kid would get picked on even harder when I was in school for being a bitch about it. Kids aren't stupid...they know a full grown "biker man" isn't about to beat them up. If anything, the whole scene (see: escort ride) would draw attention to the kid getting picked on and being a weenie about it.

Yeah. I saw that. I figured the presence of all the other Harley riders would make up for it.

I was bullied pretty badly by a few kids when I was in Jr High. One of them was particularly nasty. I Googled his name one day, and found out he was doing time. While working as a "handyman" he was stealing jewelry from the elderly people he did work for. Preyed on weak little kids when he was young, and weak elderly folks when he was older. Once a dirt bag always a dirt bag.

So yeah, I loved this new story. I hope that kid gets a bike one day!

My daughter had issues one year on the school bus with some older kids. I decided to meet her at the bus stop on the bike, this was back in my chopper/ club days.

Kid handled it like a boss , she came off the bus with a grin while all the snot noses were glued to the windows watching. Never said a word, she undid her helmet off the sissy bar, climbed on and just patted my shoulder. Never looked sideways as I fired it up and we spit gravel leaving, pretty sure she flipped them off but I didn't say anything.

She got real popular for the rest of the year with the underdog crowd and the bullying stopped. Kid never was a shy one and I did have to make an appearance for a couple dust ups where they found you didn't push the little girl as she swung first and hard.

Sometimes it isn't about the implied threat as much as the bullies understanding someone cares enough to put the show on.

Yeah, I get that. I had a big kid shake me down for money when I was a 5' 8" 98lb freshman. Pissed me off, I didn't get any lunch money or allowance from my parents, my cash came from my $1.50 an hour job washing dishes in a diner. I thought he'd leave me alone after the first time, but you know how that works. On day 2 I said f*** this, and fought the guy. Got my *** kicked but the guy left me alone after that. When my mom saw me that evening she said she was going to call the school. No way! was my reply and fortunately my old man agreed. The BS stopped after I stood up for myself, I'm sure it would have gotten worse if some school counselor or assistant principal got involved. Bunch of guys on bikes might have been different, but who knows?

Most bullies are, in fact, cowards themselves. Why would they pick on someone half their size otherwise?

yet another example of the good things those who ride do, most of the time you never hear about a brother helping out, but let anything negative go down and they will run it into the ground. There are hundreds of good things that " bikers" have done that do not hit news or have been made known to the general public, so my hats off to the brothers and sisters who ride and are willing to step up in a time of need.

Even though you got your *** whipped, you made it clear that the cost to mess with you was not worth it. He likely went off in search of easier prey.
