Why don't you just post the link to the portion of H-D's website that proves your point????

Saying the Street engine is based on the VRod engine is like saying the M8 is based on the Twin Cam, and the Twin Cam is based on the Evo, and the Evo is based....

That HD Chief Engineer was probably still in high school when the actual VRod was designed. Or he was an Engineering Manager at a local manufacturing company that wasn't even close to the motorcycle industry.

Ordinarily I'm not that touchy about V-Rod misinformation - there's boatloads of the stuff floating around even with a 1 hour Discovery Channel episode devoted to its development.

What drives me bonkers is folks comparing the original Revolution engine to that near-beer equivalent called the Revolution X. The quality and design detail of the Revo-X doesn't come near the original HD/Porsche collaboration.

As to the Nova/V-4, hell, HD couldn't sell a water-cooled DOHC V-twin in the V-Rod with 125 HP. I doubt a V-4 would do any better. A better bet would be to bring back the Revolution in two guises: 150 HP "hi-po" motor for sport/power cruisers and a 110 lb/ft smooth torque motor for touring. Lighten it up a bit and give it a 6th gear.

Ducati have developed a V4, and as a company that was all about twin power as well, I’d definitely consider it.
i could only imagine how it would sound, as it would be sweet!

Some time ago I owned a Honda Magna 750 V4, very smooth motor. I would buy a V4 Harley.

Three in fact, over the years. The Apollo prototype in 1963, the Desmosedici loosely based on their MotoGP bike, and the latest V4 Panigale.

I recently bought the BMW 1600B, 160 HP 130 TQ 6 cylinder, Yes it is amazing, yes it out performs my Harley's in every single way imaginable, better lighting, better comfort features, better performance. But I would not sell my Harley for it. It weird that something can be 100 times better on paper and I still would take the Harley. The Harley is just fun, it has a soul, you can't explain it to someone who doesn't own one and not into Harley. But my 1600 is best described as dead, its like driving a fast sports car, it just doesn't have that feeling my Harley has. I can't explain it any other way. Harley might be able to pull off selling a different motor to these new riders, but I think the down fall of the Vrod was it only came in one design. If they tuned that motor differently and put it into a bagger and a softtail, it would still be around. I owned a vrod and it was a blast but the comfort for me and when the wife rode was horrendous

It would depend on how it looked, and what it costs.

I own an '85 Magna 700 V4, they were 700cc to get around the tariff. It was the best bike I ever owned. Smooth, liquid cooled, shaft drive, etc.. After I got my first Harley, I saw it at a Honda shop because apparently the original owner bought it new for his wife and then traded it for a 'Rebel', I gave the Magna to my father to use. He became too ill to ride, didn't let me know, and since he passed it is still sitting in my stepmothers back yard.

I doubt I would buy a V4 Harley. At least until they had been on the street a few years.
