Default Went to purchase today but Walked!!

Ok so i went to look at the new Fatboy and a 2018 and 2017 Road King Special. In the end i decided i like the Road King Special and i was ready to buy.

Got the sales guy and worked up the numbers. Both RKS bikes where Vivid black just one was a 17 and the otheran 18 both at the same dealership. Long story short he started with the 2017 numbers first and basically for a leftover they wanted $22,860 otd. I told them ive never paid over msrp even on a new year model let a lone a leftover. So i didnt even want the price of the 2018 because they said it would be a lot more. So i walked. Going to call 3 more dealers during the week and they all have new 2018s in stock of the RKS so hopefully ill find one willing to come to there senses. If not ill wait till January when they'll be begging me to buy the bike. I never understood these places that do that. There already making a bunch of money on them even at msrp but they want to try nickle and dime every last customer anymore instead of giving good deals. Ih well. Well see what happens this week when they re open after labor day.

That's crazy. You should be able to get it out the door under 20k especially being it's a leftover.

You won't get them for less than MSRP right now and I promise they won't be begging you to buy a bike any time soon if ever.

Agreed but really, a "leftover" SHOULD BE lower than MSRP...should be in a perfect world. Good Luck on the next ones.

Most people just lay down, that's why they stick to it. It gets worst the closer you get to the business office.

Good for you. I've seen too many folks think they "have" to make the deal once they get the ball rolling.

I don't get the idea of paying MSRP for leftover either but in all fairness its their dealership/their party. If they let you walk they must think they can get that price for it. I guess capitalism is built on crap like that.

When you say you never paid over MSRP are you saying MSRP otd, or MSRP + ttl or MSRP + ttl & Freight/Setup. I agree with some others, they will never be begging us to be buying a bike.

I disagree they're already begging for business. Look at the changes brought to the '18 lineup. They've already said, "you guys aren't buying our bikes, we have to change the style to pull buyers in." That's beggars trying to be choosers, if I've ever seen it. A more traditional way of begging (by lowering prices to match their product) would be much more effective in the long run. But nobody asked me... haha

Good call. Play other dealers against one another like a fiddle. They play plenty. Your turn now.

I am surprised they let you walk without agreeing to MSRP. Very surprised, since it was a 2017. Of course the 2017 touring bikes are not much different than the 2018s? Is that right?

I got a very good deal on my 2015 Fat Boy which I bought the week that the 2016s came in. They were definitely dealing.
