Just an observation, I see theses being sold everywhere. I was told they are liked by a lot of old timers. I really don't see the function benefit, actually they appear to be terrible for riding. Is it because they are cheap and easily replaced or is there a real benefit to the simple design?

 

It's just a classic style,IMO. I wore them for years before I ever heard the name "KD".
My prescription glasses with transition lenses look just like them.

 

Never heard of them the only KD I know is kraft dinner

 

Wore them for a long, long time. When I first bought mine they were cheap...like 3 bucks. Came in a rainbow of colored lenses too. Had everything from clear, couple shades of blues, yellow, reds and greens, grays and black. Only stopped using them because at age 70 I need prescription glasses so that I can see the speedo on my Pans and Shovel.

 

Got two pairs now that are my "throw in the bags" sunglasses. Only thing I wish K-D's had is rear anti-reflective coating. For some reason that glare off the back of the lenses bothers me. OK sunglasses tho'.
