Most likely you'll never be completely happy with the sportster. A lot of people have different reasons for being happy with one but I can't seem to find one. I bought a 2000 1200S and couldn't get into something else soon enough. Went to a Dyna and was so much happier. Bigger frame and bonus a big twin. Sportster is a cost effective way for people to own a HD. Spending a little more for a Dyna is well worth the money. I am 6'2" and 210 lbs.

The longer you keep it the less $$ you'll get for it. Trade the bitch in!
I'd be in that dealer tomorrow morning with my pen in hand ready to sign those loan papers.
You'll NEVER be happy on what you took home if you have those feelings about it as you did on your first post. TRADE THAT BITCH IN! Be happy, life is short.

Thank you for the advice everyone. Despite the different opinions, this was helpful to me. Many of you gave me sincere and thought out answers.
I decided to keep the Iron for now. I will take the advice of keeping the mods cheap (NEED to change the seat at least) and trying out other models (not new/more expensive - don't want that). Also, giving this Iron a real chance.
I made a rookie mistake, but it definitely won't be a mistake I make more than once. Life lesson learned.
Thanks again.

You already made one hasty decision. Making another will only dig the hole deeper.
Every bike is it's own thing. Each is different. But if you take the time to get to know it on it's own terms, I've never had a bike that I didn't come to appreciate, even if initially I wasn't sure. I bought the bike in my sigpic from a guy 100 miles away. The whole way home, I was thinking that this was a stupid mistake. Hated it. Too big. Too slow. Total pig. Two years and 20k+ miles later, it's my daily rider and there isn't enough money to buy it off of me.
You just never know.
