This bike has it, my last bike had it too. I leave it off and turn it on when I feel like it. On my new bike with the M8 engine, I have never even tried it. For me personally, it makes no sense to have it on auto pilot when its so easy to turn it on and off when the heat bothers me or not bothering me.

When I had my 2011 I left it on because it would only kick on when the engine got hot, now I have a 2016 and it kicks on when the outside temp hits a certain degree even if the engine is not running hot so I leave it off now, unless I get into some stop & go traffic on a hot day.

I have never turned mine on ('17 RG). I understand that it is only for the comfort of the rider and doesn't benefit the engine. I have good boots and a crotch cooler and don't ride in stop-n-go traffic that much.

Prot - Basically it cuts spark to the rear cylinder while idling when the engine reaches a certain temp. Supposedly it's just to reduce heat felt by the rider. The cylinder reactivates instantly when the throttle is used. You can disable or enable the system while bike is stopped at a light.

I used it on my '16 RK. Haven't needed it on the '18 Heritage.

I leave mine on. I do very little riding in stop and go traffic or in town with stop lights so I dont often hear mine come on

I heard about that, but didn't know what it was called. Did I mention how much I despise acronyms?

Always, never had an issue with it. Find it to be a really good feature
