Default What do you think about about strangers joining tagging along with your group?

Riding with a friend on the interstate recently, as we went by an entrance ramp, we passed a guy (on a bike just like mine) on the ramp speeding up to enter the highway. Next think I know, he was riding in formation with us, hanging back a little further than normal. But he: rode on the left side of the lane, changed lanes to pass with us, sped up when we did, slowed with us. He did this for about 20 miles and then took his exit. We never spoke, never saw his face.

When my friend and I stopped, he made a comment about how lame the guy was.. I didn't mind.

What are your thoughts? Have any of you experienced this? (or done this?)

Three is better than one when it comes to being seen.

Idk what the big deal was? Dude was staying back and gave y'all space..... Maybe he figured riding on a highway with 2 other bikes is safer and more visible than riding solo

Long as he kept his space I don't see a problem. This happens commuting from time to time. Usually it's a visibility thing. Going to be behind someone, I'd rather it be a another bike and vice/versa. He might have been tickled you guys had the same bike.

I always liked it when random riders would fall in and out of a group as they go on their way. I've tagged along with groups before, sometimes you meet cool people like that

i don't do it , but don't mind if someone else joins up with me or my group . as mentioned car drivers notice big things like a group of motorcycles better than they notice just one .
the potential problem comes when someone leaves the group , the car drivers assume we're glued together and are all doing the same thing so they only pay attention to the large group and someone splitting off will be near invisible to them . friend of a friend got killed that way when he continued straight and the rest of the group took a turn , car coming the other way saw the big group and assumed they were all turning so made his own turn , right into the one bike that wasn't turning .

I fell in behind three guys heading to Daytona once somewhere on I-26. We stayed together most of the way there with no problems. I felt better being in a smaller group especially going through Jacksonville. With all the pipes and lights people really never crowded us in too much.
