I say go for it with the BMW. For too many years all the wife and I bought were Harleys. We still have 4 in the stable but in the last 5 years we added a '15 Triumph Scrambler, a '15 Victory Cross Country Tour, an '02 Yamaha Vmax and a '04 Kawasaki KLR 650.
It's kinda like guns. One doesn't cover everything. You need a rifle, a shotgun and a bunch of handguns.
Variety, the spice of life.

If the repair costs on the BMW motorcycle are anything like they are on my BMW car, best of luck to you.

I had an early 3-series BMW, and a Porsche 911.

I will never, ever, own a German car again.

Ever.

Pretty sure an AED comes as standard equipment on the GoldWing!

If you're bored on a motorcycle, you're riding too slow.

OP, enjoy your new BMW! I own a BMW, HD and Honda. Each has its merits.

Harley has growing competition. There's Indian, BMW, the new Yamaha Venture, and the upcoming new 2018 Gold Wing.

You say HD is overpriced and you are looking at getting a BMW? Well, both are overpriced, but they sell (more or less) at those prices - that's capitalism for ya.
Get a V-Strom and save yourself a bunch of $$.

I absolutely loved my 01 K1200rs. Great bike.

I now have a suzuki (RM250), 2 yamahas (XT225, XS400) 2 hondas (CB360, CB450) and 1 HD. All very very very different bikes and all tons of fun!!
