Default SHOEI RF 1200 helmet + photochromic shield - anyone like it?

Thinking about this helmet and shield, wondering how dark it gets and if anyone is happy with it.
Anyone?

RF-1200's are fairly quiet helmets when it comes to wind noise attenuation. They also use a "pin-lock" device that reduces fogging. They work well.

Great helmet. I have transition glasses so I've never invested in the shield, but I've heard good things. Shoei is not known for under performing products. Never cheap but always worth it.

I recently bought a Shoei RF1200. My head is near the max size for the LARGE helmet that I bought. Mine is tight but it isn't uncomfortable, except for the removable cheek pads. Shoei sells thinner 31mm cheek pads for $49.00 if the stock 35mm cheek pads are too tight. I bought them but IMO, I shouldn't have had to. This helmet works a lot better than my old one did. I can ride my Beemers at any speed with my head up in the wind with no problems. I bought it at Revzilla.

Thanks for that review, RK4ME.

The other helmet I was thinking about was the Shark Evoline - would be nice to flip it open-face. However, not sure if I want to deal with the added weight.
Really like the idea of the photochromic shield on the SHOEI.

I wear a full face for protection and comfort, 3/4 when I want to feel the wind. Imo a modular is the worst of both worlds...not as structurally sound and protective as a solid full face....bulky and wind resisting/buffeting when opened unlike a dedicated 3/4...YMMV.

The Shark Evoline is the MODULAR that lets you flip the chin bar all the way to the back of the helmet.

I bought this SHARK Spartan a few months ago, no photochromic visor but it features a built-in sun-visor. And the price is almost 50% cheaper than the RF-1200 + Transition visor :

+1 for the Shoei RF1200. I can't speak for the photochromic shield but I'll be following to see what others say.
