Default My sporty has passed away, what now?

Last week I had the pleasure of slamming my 10' iron 883 (my absolute pride and joy) into somone who "didnt see me"... She was totaled by insurance.

I am back at square 1 with debating what bike to get

I really am much happier blasting around town, running through the gears in short bursts from light to light, I rarely do trips longer then 200+ miles.

Torque over top end power / hard leaning in turns over comfortable suspensions / simple styling over flashy/ nimble over big.

I always saw dynas as a grown up sportster, a heavier faster version, am I right with that? If it is then im sold, I want the best of both worlds, but when does that ever really happen?

Either I will buy another 883 and beef it up to a 1250
or buy a 1200
or buy a 103 street bob
or hit lotto and buy a lowrider s

what sounds like the right move?

As long as you're alright, you can buy whatever you want. You can't buy another you.

Once you get a Dyna, you may find yourself venturing farther from home.
Next thing you know, you'll be on a bagger, gone missing for weeks at a time.

Same thing every time this is asked, go test ride. The Slim is a sweet bike and quite nimble IMO with my limited experience on one. But then I feel pretty much that way about my touring bikes.

Based only on what I've read, I would say a Street Bob or if you are open to other brands, a Scout.

Get the 103 Dyna put some 10.5:1 compression pistons in it with better heads and SE 259e cams and before you know it you will start saying "iron 883 Who?"

New or used. The new "Fat Bob". Is quite nimble. I dislike the reduced fuel capacity but for an in town bomber it's quick and handles well.

Used in a big twin I'd go for one of the Dyna flavors. Personally I love my 03 FXD for bombing around town.

Good choice & a FXRS weighs only 10 more pounds than a rubber mount Sportster, too.
