Why are internet bikers a bunch of wannabe global economists?

I am amazed at how many "MoCo is in trouble" type posts are put up.
The number of people on planet Earth that actually understand the financial markets is infinitesimally small. The number of those that also ride a Harley has to be about the same as the odds of winning the next Powerball.
Seriously, how many here have read more than 3 10q reports in the last week, or could explain the PE Multiple of HOG in a meaningful way?
FWIW, I can't either. But I know enough to know that I don't **** about finances. If you need proof, look at my credit score!

This tells me that their sales revenue is flat for the last 2 years, and mostly over the last 3. Their G&A is slightly up, and they EBITA is degrading over that three year period.
So, they aren't really any different in the last 3 years other than internal cost issues (cost of sales) and likely some restructuring that is catching up.
Just a morning thought.

Here is more detail.. Looks like their challenges are completely tax related, which is wholly unrelated to their sales of motorcycles.

In fact, EPS is up... as an investor, you would be happy with HOG not singing it's death knell.

These are large, infinitely complicated systems. No one understands it. At best, a given individual can understand a small part of a small subset of a small segment of it.
You're exactly right. Bunch of "Boardroom Bikers" here. Everyone is certain that he knows exactly what the MoCo needs to do to reclaim lost glory. In general, that takes the form of "If they would only make bikes just like the ones I personally happen to like, then things would be great".
As if it's that easy and simple.
One gets the impression that some take the declining sales by the MoCo as something of a personal insult. After all, we find validation through consumerism when other people like what we like, right?
HD will either survive or it won't. There's nothing I can do about it either way.
