Planning on riding to Fredericksburg this weekend. Wondering if anyone has a good route from Houston. We usually go the standard 290 route, but wondering if anyone has a good back roads route they recommend.

 

I like this route:
290 to Hempstead
Catch 159 to Bellville, Industry, Fayetteville.
When you get to 71 go north toward Austin, through La Grange and Smithville.
When you get to Bastrop, take a quick tour through Bastrop State Park.
Get back on 71 thru Austin which turns back into 290 at I-35.
West on 290 thru Dripping Springs which dead ends into 281.
Head North on 281 to Johnson City and pick up 290 west again, go thru Hye and Stonewall and the next stop is Fredericksburg.
Pretty nice day if your not in a hurry, which I usually am in deer season headed to Rocksprings.
