I'll offer this conjecture, based upon decades of experience working offshore with crews from all over the world:

This has SFA to do with noise and everything to do with your "American" ride. Lotta socialists auf der welt who passionately hate American freedoms and love of Individuality. They'll call it something else, but that's the gist of it. Your HD is the virtual red flag, dangled in front of a bull. Buy a BMW and you can remove the pipes at the heads. No-one will complain.

Is this normal.....tell me your stories...and what to do here.....beat them up or what?
I don’t get it. The neighbor ok, I can see that, but the coffee shop? You drive by once a week, and yet the guy and his backup have time to come out and taunt you while you breeze by? When you say you rode by, how fast were you going? Or were you stopped in front and blipping your throttle intentionally to **** them off?

Doesn’t make sense to me, sounds like there’s more history there. Anyway, I hate to say it, but unless you want to have to defend yourself everywhere you go, maybe you need to adapt to your environment.

I’m all about personal freedom, but being in Deutschland, you don’t have any. Kidding of course, but maybe some quieter pipes are a solution. Unless if you are able, just stop and kick the **** out of anything that harasses you and they’ll eventually get the message to leave you alone.

But from your statements that’s probably not going to happen, nor do I recommend it.

Even here in the land of the free, ppl get noise violations from time to time, while in the EU where regs are much stronger, I’m surprised it’s only a few ppl hassling you, and not the polizei.

Good luck.

If you are pissing people off with loud pipes, why would it surprise you that they let you know about it? I wound up putting in a quiet baffle in my V&H Pro Pipe. Previous to the quiet baffle, I'd cringe every time I started it up at 7:00am to ride to work. I hear some bikes that are just beyond anything I find tolerable in how loud they are. Again, if you get flak for having an obnoxiously loud bike, why would you be surprised?

he never politely said that he was annoyed by sound...never....

Then there is this bar....I pass by once per week and suddenly this ****ing ugly owner runs to my bike, I was watching valleyball near his bar and he starts to threaten how he will beat me up and **** and his bar worker went back to bring a baseball bat.....and was circling my bike.....

it was scary.....
then just one month ago, three idiots in a van were driving super close behind me....and i showed them a finger......the driver jumps out of the van with a long ****ing metal thing and I quickly drove off.....he would for shure hit me or something, again i was afraid for my bike got damaged and drove off.....
Maybe, just maybe it's you or your bike?

Change the pipes back to stock or buy a Goldwing! You meet the nicest people on a Honda!!

There was one old guy on my street that used to complain about my bike, even though I went in and out of the neighborhood easy as I could (you don't **** where you live). There were many bikes louder than mine. He finally told my Dad he was going to have me arrested(?). About a week later, we had a charity ride and my house was one of the stops. After about 250-300 bikes went by his place that day, he never again said another word.

Since you live in Germany, isn't your bike subject to inspection? Assume a decibel meter check is part of that process. Why does your bike pass?

I've been harassed by fellow Harley owners that complained that my slip-ons weren't loud enough.
