Mileage and value question

Mileage and value question
I've got an earlier post on here about a possible purchase of two HD"s. A 97 FLHP Police bike (true police use) and a 99 Night Train. Both in visibly nice condition. Both start and run smooth. The Police bike had 120k miles, but supposedly had been rebuilt in the past 4 years. Can not verify as the owner has passed away and the kids can not find records.
What does that kind of mileage do to the bike ,in the Harley community, as far as resale value? The NADA doesn't ask for mileage, just year model.
Your thought would be appreciated. I'm on hold on the purchase until I have more knowledge on the subject. The bike will be basically bought for $4500.

Depends
I think it depends on your specific situation.
If you're considering buying it because you really have an interest in Evo's and it will be a 2nd or 3rd bike for you for occasional use - possibly you should buy it.
If you have never owned a Harley before and this would be your first bike - no, unless you are already a good mechanic and handy.
If you just want a Harley, can afford it, and don't really plan to ride it much - yes.
If it will be your first motorcycle and you plan on using it to tour with - no.
The price is ok, but if you spent $1500 to 2000 more you would have a big choice in newer equipment with much lower miles. Also consider its "rebuilt" - what does that mean?

$4500 for a 20 year old police bike that was likely beat up while in service with LEO. I would pass. The fact that the family claims it was "rebuilt" IMHO mean absolutely nothing as there is no proof that was done or if it was done by who or what was actually done.
Unless you are just in the market for that specific year and model I would walk away there are too many good low mileage bikes for low prices on the market today
