I've never read anything of his, but every time any acquaintances of mine bring up financial topics and quote him it's garbage *** stuff. I thought maybe they were fools and misunderstood or took him out of context, but it's happened so many times that I think DR could be bilking folks by writing books that appeal to a certain class of people because of certain catch phrases and posing situations they can relate to like credit debt.

Suze Orman is bomb though.

Figure out your debt to income ratio easily by making your own spreadsheet of incoming and outgoing revenues. You don't need a Dave Ramsey book to do anything.

For good measure, what's your mother's maiden name?

If I were in California, all I would need is a full tank of gas and a GPS. Problem solved there. Go East young man.

Back to OP, Humble has some areas that are anything but Humble, and the average truck is a 4dr Crew Cab 4wd - $65K - $80K, so a $2500+ house note, $800+ truck note, and a $400+ bike note would suck. All decisions.

Excuses, excuses. You have blinders on.

Here's reality. You're living beyond your means (see IdahoHacker's comment). It's time to man up and get your finances in order. You won't like it.

This isn't that complicated. In order of probability, (assuming you're not trying to put four kids through Harvard.):

1. You bought way more house than you can afford.
2. You filled the house with **** you don't need, on credit cards.
3. You eat out at restaurants, a lot.

Try this. Sell everything, divorce and give her half. Marry a beautiful and rich heiress. End of money troubles.

This kind of ranks with a poster I PMed a couple of years ago. The thread was about retirement and some real discussion was taking place. This guy pops in and says no way anyone can retire with less than $200K a year and it would take him $500K. I pointed out the diverse membership here and that perhaps he might want to tone it down and address it in %s and not $s. Yes he was a Brain Surgeon.
Depending on the area $$$ go farther or run out quicker, regardless it's about $$ in vs $$s out.

I have been to where he lives. Some mighty high real estate there. Many folks tend to live beyond their means. Been there, done that.
