Default Colder Weather Dilemma

With the New Year we will have issues we've never faced before in Southeast Texas. Look as if it's going to be in the 20's at night for a week or so. Oil is good, but wondering if I need to change the coolant in my Evo or Shovel, if so what brands do you use.

I wish it were going to be in the 20’s here. That’s warm. This -15 to -25 **** can stop though.

I just use water. Pour it right in the coolant hole.

You are an evil person, DVU. I would never do that to my forum buds.

Oh yeah...it's a tad chilly in Carlsbad, CA:

I wish it was that chilly here. I'd like to be around Furnace Creek or Carlsbad or even southeast Texas right now. I lived in Erie PA for a few years but luckily I'm a little further south now and their record snowfall missed us. I know there's places colder right now but I'm ready for summer.

Default DFW weather

The local HOG Chapter does their annual Frosty HOG ride here each year on New Years Day.
Fuggum, I ain't going, don't like them much anyway. It's currently 32* degrees here this morning.

Good Morning everyone, have a happy and safe New Years Eve!

I flush and filled the radiator yesterday, added a can of no leak.

Lucky you! I had to leave my automatic gate open, due to ice freezing on the chain drive. I also had to leave my faucets on a slow stream, so I wouldn`t have to worry about my well and pipes freezing. I have a heater in the well house, but I`m not taking any chances. It`s 12* here right now.

When I was a kid I remember one winter I spent in Buffalo, NY. Back then the snow plows couldn`t keep up with all of the snow, but we went to school anyway and had a ball digging tunnels through 3 or 4 feet of snow.

To answer the question....buy a coolant gauge/checker at an auto supply store or online. Find the reservoir for your bike and check how good it's down to. Add coolant as necessary.
