To: HARD ON PARTS. Thank you ( sorry I don't know how to quote your reply )
I must tell you that your father was a true American hero in my eyes. I wish I had met him to shake his hand and welcome him home. We didn't get that recognition back then, which in large part is why I joined the Patriot Guard Riders. I never wanted to see any veteran go through what your Dad and I endured. Even though so many people on this thread have me hoping that there might be a cure for my cancer, the reality is it has spread too far and it's just a question of how long I have at this point. My hope is for as long as possible and the strength to take one more wonderful ride. Perhaps your Dad and I will sit and have a long talk when I join him on the other side. God bless you and keep you and your family safe.............

I have worked in Radiology for many years and have seen many(way too many) fighting that battle that you are currently in. I have seen more than I am able to count to be honest, including my father. He had more than one type of cancer and we even went down to Houston, Texas at MD Anderson so they could study one of his rare forms. That trip is one of the best memories I will have spending time with my father, for the first time in my life I saw venerability in that man. On the other side, my profession has allowed me to view many fight and survive. That is what Veterans do, they fight...NEVER SURRENDER.
For me to say I understand is not valid, for everyone has a unique experience within our own existence. I truly believe some of us out here have a little more understanding and compassion for what you are going through.
You are in my thoughts brother, keep fighting...NEVER SURRENDER.

Glad that you seem to have a good attitude towards your situation, and that you've posted this. Praying that you're prepared for the next step in your life after the death of your body. May your days be blessed with the love of friends and family, right up until the moment you meet your maker, and may He welcome you with open arms, saying "Well done!"

I came across your blog by accident. But I realized how it mirrors my life as well. I started riding in '73, sold my XLH in '80 to get married, bought a Honda XR 250 in '82 and sold that in '86 when my daughter was born. Then came my son in '90,along with a new home, college, etc. Four years ago when the kids moved out and the mortgage was paid off, I bough a used 883 custom off Craigslist. Threw on some modifications and pipes and had a blast. That same year I was diagnosed with Lymphoma. I didn't let that stop my riding or passion for Harleys. But 6 months ago my Oncologist told me the Lymphoma has morphed into Leukemia. And now another battle is about to begin. I am 63, love life and refuse to give up my biking passion. Hang in there my friend, it's not over till it's over. God Speed!!!

In this day and age everybody eventually will develop some sort of cancer young or old. My advice is to do what ever you like as long as you can until you can't. We'll all reach a point when we can't do all the things we love to do. I've lost so many friends who lived the perfect healthy lifestyle to various cancers yet somebody who lives as reckless as me is still kicking for now. Right now the FLU is murdering so many healthy Americans in the USA. I think the moral of the story is to let people know that you only have one day at a time and no more. I embrace all the things that the OP said with great respect. I think everybody needs to look at there life and ask. Has it been awesome? If not you better get with it. Times running out.

Hello Friends,
I am home from the doctor visit. Nothing much has changed for me. They are somewhat optimistic that I may able to get a ride or two in once it's warm enough. I have been reading the forum pretty much every other day. I am thinking I would really like to go to Florida for a couple days or so instead of waiting for warm weather to arrive. My friend has a nice bike with a side car and has offered to trailer us to Florida. If I am not strong enough to ride mine, I will get in the side car and enjoy the journey. Just wanted to let you all know that I am still here and wish each and every one of you a warm sunny day and endless miles of safe riding. Please continue to help the newer riders with good advice and above all else.....Show respect and tolerance and keep your loved ones close by your side.
