Hello all. Well it has and continues to be a good week here. We have had Dad just about everywhere including the Boot Hill Saloon, lol. I have learned a lot this week, talking to people about bikes, etc. Just seeing all of them here is amazing. Warm days and slightly chilly in the evenings. The decision has been made. Tomorrow morning at sunrise, we will spread Dad's ashes in the ocean. Then begins the journey home. Sorry I haven't posted all week as there has been so much to see and do. Tonight we are having dinner and a sort of "memorial" service afterwards at the house we are staying at. Very kind of all of you to post such wonderful comments about Dad. Tonight we will read all of them out loud. God bless and wishing you "warm sunny days and good rides"

Warm Sunny Days ans Good Rides
Hello All,
We have been home for two days now. Gathering up my courage little by little. The "memorial" service at the house in Orange was actually held on the deck area. We had invited perhaps 6 or 7 persons we had met there. There were 5 of us and we had the grill fired up. Salads, burgers. etc. for maybe 20 people, figuring some would be hungry and want seconds. It was overwhelming. I guess someone told someone and then someone else told someone else. It started at about 6 pm and about 6:30 or so, more and more people starting showing up. They brought more food, beer, sympathy cards and much more. I can't tell you how many people were there. The neighbors on both sides of us knew about it and set their deck areas up to accommodate everyone. I think it was planned without my knowing about it. At the end of the night we had people sleeping all over the floors, in the yard, in their cars, etc. If I had to guess, maybe 50 people or more. I got up early to go get coffee and donuts for everyone and it was already picked up and there. Now I am crying like a baby. I am beginning to realize just what my Dad was about. I always thought I knew already but I guess I didn't know the most important thing. Always, always, treat others with not just respect but take it to the next level. Don't wait for someone to ask to help. Offer it ahead of time. Some people will never let you know. You need too reach out to them ahead of time. Stay in tune to their emotions and needs. Here I go again writing a book. Everyone there, went to the beach with us to witness the spreading of Dad's ashes. I didn't keep any for a bell or pouch or anything. We even burned his wooden urn on the beach afterwards, There was a "park ranger" who drove up as we congregated before we started and he told us we couldn't be there doing what we were about to do. Some of Dad's friends talked to him and explained what it was all about. The policeman ended up staying and removed his hat and saluted as Dad's ashes were spread in the surf. Once again I am humbled to be his son. Sorry, more later perhaps.............From the bottom of my heart I thank all of you and once again wish you "warm sunny days and good rides". I will post he pics soon. God bless
