Default DIY Springer maintenance. Or dealer $90?

I just picked up a mint condition 08 Crossbones with only 2k miles on the clock. Normally I do the easy maintenance like the 3 hole oil changed myself on my bikes and only ever take to the dealership when the big stuff needs to be done.

Looking at the HD maintenance schedule on my Springer it basically needs to be greased and inspected at every 2,500 miles and possibly adjusted. So I called the stealership up I mean dealership and asked if they have qualified techs that work on the Springer still and how much they charge for the 2,500 mile service. They said they do and it would be $90.

$90 seems like alot for every 2,500 miles. I'd like to do the maintenance myself. Problem is when I do the 3 hole oil changes I use the 2x4 method or sometimes just sit on the bike to stand it upright to get the oil out so I don't have a jack. Looks like when performing the Springer maintenance it needs to be lifted for proper inspection, greased and adjustments made. So I'd have to buy a proper jack. Also the dealership guy said it takes a Harley "special grease". After some research it looks like I can use Wurth SIG 3000. But after eyeing the grease fitting on the neck it looks a bit smaller then usual. Do I need a special grease gun fitting? Toping off the grease every 2,500 myself just seems like a no brainer.

But, I'm obviously not trained on making the required adjustments to the Springer front end. And probably don't have the tools. But any tips tricks and advise would be greatly appreciated. As to they're might be a chance I can do this maintenance on my own? Rather then spending that kind of Coin at the dealership. Plus who knows how long there will be techs that can work on Springers!?!

So what all do I need and how do I do it? Or should I really just take it to the dealership?

90 dollars seems like a fair deal. Not much you can get done for that price at the dealer.

for every 2500, I'd invest in the tools and learn to do myself. Keep us updated.

Really? The $90 is just for the grease Job every 2,500 miles. I'm sure if they find or say something else is wrong the price goes up by alot. Lol.

I can get the tools. But also need the knowledge how to do the job and I dont have a 3rd hand unfortunately. My Son isn't old enough yet. I'm going to research my *** off. And listen to anyone that knows how to do the stuff first hand. If i can find anyone.

Does the bike have to be lifted to do the grease job? I just need to figure out the fitting size like I said it looks a little small compared to other grease fittings I've seen. Maybe it's just me. It would be nice to grease it myself. Sh$t like that and Oil changes I do myself.
