After my fathers passing I had his 1998 Electra glide shipped to Ct. My father loved to ride , he moved to FL 10 yrs ago so he could ride everyday and ride everyday he did:) it was great that we shared the same passion for Harley Davidson’s, we rode together since I was sixteen, I have great memories of the bikes and hot rods we built over the years. When I was ten be built me a mini bike and named it the Hornet after the aircraft carrier Hornet CV-12 that he served on during the Vietnam war. So this is my Hornet build for him. I’ll try to update daily. I have already stripped the bike and sent all the tins to paint. So far I’ve mostly been cleaning and adding a few new parts. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...c4131d4e0.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...2e0ed0a49.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...9c5f8e322.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...cc2f8d26b.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...a00ed2920.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...825d2a964.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...42b7518df.jpeg Polished one fork leg today:) https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...16b9e056a.jpeg |

Cool story!
I look forward to seeing the finished project. I'm sure your Dad is smiling! |
BTW the Hornet is docked in Alameda, CA. It is a museum and open to the public. We had the travelling Wall there some years ago.
|
I’d love to visit it someday. My father was asked to help recreate some areas of the ship when the turned it into a museum.
