Trade 18 Ultra Limited for 19 Deluxe
Contemplating trying to do a trade, but not sure I want to.
I love my Ultra Limited...except its weight. Bought it because we were thinking of doing long distance touring on it. My wife loves riding on the back, but she doesnt want to tour on the bike...(to hot, cant sleep, etc...). Its a lot of bike for bar hopping and running around town going to dinner and what not. I love the wind protection, the suspension, the stereo, the liquid cooled heads, easy chair like seat, etc... but for what we are doing, its all overkill. Its a bit of a chore to get it out of the garage to run to the ice cream shop 5 minutes up the road...or 10 minutes to dinner... etc...
Thinking on trying to trade for a 19 Deluxe.
I previously have had a 17 Heritage(traded it in on the Ultra Limited) and an 18 Slim(traded for a Corvette) so I know the Softail line.
I like the chrome so a Heritage is out. I would be adding a passenger seat, sissy bar, and pegs. Probably get everything for the detachable windshield as well. Doubt I would add bags, but maybe some detachable.
Am I stupid to think about trying to do a deal on this trade?

Ultra is 910 wet and the deluxe is 696 wet. So 220lbs. Guessing passenger stuff and windshield is 15lbs...so call it 200lb difference.
I love the ultra also just feel it's overkill...

I traded my 16 limited for a 16 Street Glide for the same reason. Love my street glide. I upgraded the suspension on it and it rides and handles great. I also added lowers. Not a huge weight difference but without the tour pack the bike seems a lot easier to handle at low speed and pushing it around.

It's a start and the weight distribution is a big difference. You will be surprised how much lighter your bike will be. It's stll a heavy bike but at least you have options. But you know buying a non touring bike limits you on what you want to carry.
