Pondering questions on HD's independent ABS system
 

I've been wondering about HD's independent ABS system and how to bleed it.

On a car, when you apply full brake pressure to lock the brakes and one wheel looses traction, as detected by the ABS sensor, the ABS system will activate and pulsate the brake.

So what happens on a Harley with independent ABS brakes? I imagine that each wheel has a sensor and if one of the wheels looses traction, the ABS system will activate and pulsate the brake on the wheel that has lost the traction. So, if this is true,

1. I should be able to put the bike on a jack to raise both wheels, turn it on and in gear then fully lock the front brake. Because the rear wheel is still spinning, shouldn't the front ABS activate? if so, would this be a way to "clear" the old brake fluid from the ABS when doing a brake flush? When doing the back wheel, I should be able to fully lock the rear wheel and have someone spin the front wheel so the rear ABS activates, correct? Please note that I am discussing independent ABS like on my 2014 Heritage, not the linked ABS system as in some baggers.

2. I would image too that for the ABS to function most effectively, we would have to apply full brake on both systems in emergency stopping to take full advantage of the ABS. What happens to those who believe in only using either the front or rear brake? Are they hampering themselves?

3. There are those who like to hold the front brake while spinning the rear wheel to burn rubber. On a bike with independent ABS, wouldn't the ABS prevent the front wheel front wheel from full lock since the rear wheel is spinning?

I own a service manual for my bike so please don't suggest that I get one. The manual mostly explains how to replace parts and not so much about the mechanics of each device's functionality.

On an independent system, none of those things you talked about would happen. Your ABS doers nothing for a wheel that is not turning. There has to be a turning wheel for the ABS system to detect the pulses. There is no way on a jack to make anything but the rear brake ABS cycle. If you use only one brake, only one brake ABS will be working. The other is not doing anything at that time. If the front wheel is not turning, no pulses and no ABS system action.
