Hi chaps
I need to bend the metal pipe slightly more into U shape to make the connection work without tanking in to the stealer. What would be the correct method?
I'm not sure about the "correct way",,,But I would put a slightly smaller socket in the radius then sqeeze the two ends together with channel locks or a vise using a rag or soft wood to protect the fittings. Remove o-ring first. Fittings might be too close to radius for a tubing bender. Just my 2cent

This is what I would do. Nail, bolt of weld the socket to a flat suffice, then put the fuel line down around the socket, then put a nail or bolt right behind the center of the fuel line to keep it from backing off the socket while you are bending the line. I would use a C-clamp so that you don't wind up bending too fast and kinking the line. This comes from my years of metal fabrication in a welding shop. The main thing to remember is Do Not Get In a Hurry.
Soooo how did it got bent into the shape it is in now?
It was bent prior to being cut. Not hard to do with the proper tools, very difficult without them. It can be done, but done properly requires a jig and heat and experience.
