Default Mi roads and winters wrath...

Any riders out there that's planning on getting out next week here in West MI use extreme caution on the section of I-196 from Zeeland up to Grandville . The zipper in the road (white lines), east bound and west bound, is so torn up the gap in the road will grab your tires and the gaps are about 6 inches deep. Cars tires are being blown out from these length wise potholes. Drive with care guys. Our roads are built by the lowest bidders. This ends the PSA.

The mid west took a beating this winter. Our state passed a 11cent per gallon tax in July
and now politicians are saying they don't have the money to fix all the problems.Go figure!
If your a rider planning a trip this year in the midwest plan on long lines of traffic .The repairs are gonna take awhile to fix.

Ya gotta love the lawmakers making a big deal on a new or special tax to fix roads only to say ( after the tax is in place) we don't have the money to pay for road repairs.
Michigan does have some of the crappiest road in the country. Be careful y'all.

We have the same problem in northern Illinois, especially on I-55. Pot holes and ruts are so big they can swallow a front tire. I've seen work crews filling holes when weather permits.

Wisconsin's bad too. I wonder if that liquid salt has anything to do with it. I know it's hard on vehicles.

The roads here in LI, NY are in poor shape also. It seems that in many areas, the top layer (1-2 inches) of asphalt has lifted off leaving "low" areas that are several feet big. Another big problem is where one lane wide section of pavement is seemed with another. The lengthwise potholes form at the seams that could easily swallow up the narrow bike tires, especially when changing lanes.

I have the joy of commuting into Detroit every day. Entire freeway ramps are now shut down. Saw a photo of a County Police Officer (don't recall which one) standing thigh deep in a pothole in one of the northern suburbs. I'm not taking the bike out until it warms up and these things are patched.
