Guys that buy large trucks and go right to work the next day with their rigs .
So there must be guys that break their bikes in with a good 1000 mile trip .

Yep, bought my 2018 Heritage 114 on a Saturday, left Monday morning for Ft Meyers, 500 miles one way. Was back at the dealer on Wednesday for the 1000 service.

Just try to follow the Owner Manusl recommendations: vary speed, don’t over rev.

Rode to Austin from Dallas on my Softail last June for ROT Rally. Got there Thursday around noon. Went to Cowboy Harley that evening for their festivities and left on a 17 SG. Rode about 250 miles between Friday morning and Sunday morning when we left to head back to Dallas. The trip home was another 225 miles. So yeah about 500 miles in a few days

I wouldn't load it down too much and as said, vary the rpm's

edit* I would also allow time to stop and let it cool completely.

have a good ride

Default Not quite

I bought mine and then rode it like hell to get my 1000 miles so I could go on a 10K mile trip. Don't lug it, vary the speed, and stop more often than really necessary.

Yep........ Took my '15 with 6 miles on it in the middle of a snowy Maine March, did exhaust, intake, and tuner on it, stuffed it in the trailer, unloaded at Hellbender Harley in GA and left loaded and two up on a 7 state, 15 day, 3650 mile loop with zero problems.....just serviced it on the road as I went...... was an awesome trip.... you buy them to ride them, right????........ Yes and no. I bought my SGS 700 miles from home. BUT - I did the motoman break in before riding home. I swear by it. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

A long cruise on the highway at constant speed is a terrible way to break in a motor. Rings won't seat properly (imo).
