Default How many got to share the road with their Pop?

Let me start by saying I feel extremely lucky for my dad to be the one to get me into bikes from a very young age. For some, it's an act of rebellion but for me, it was bonding. Countless long nights in the shop as a kiddo and lots and lots of miles on the back seat of what was eventually to become one of my very own bikes. I work a lot and have a young family, but my dad is recently retired. Our time doesn't always line up like we hope but such is life I suppose. I have hopes of getting a side car rig and maybe having three generations sharing the road together.

How is many of you got to, or still maybe do ride with your Dad?

this is a pic my wife took last weekend on a ride with dad. She doesn't ride much, and finding out recently that we're expecting our third kiddo she won't ride but maybe once or twice in the coming weeks and that will probably be it for her till next spring. I posted this pic in another thread, and looking at it just made me feel blessed to be able to share what I have. Hope you guys don't mind.

"Son, you're NEVER going to have a street bike as long as I'm alive"...

So, no... Pop is still kicking, but obviously does not share the passion. He "got over it" when I bought my first bike.

my dads place is waterfront on a lake here close to me. Same lake I duck hunt and fish on primarily. Yeah. I've got too many hobbies lol. We fish together a good bit. As screwed as my schedule is, I get plenty of days off, just at odd times.

Back in 1963 when I was 9 yrs old, my dad took me for a ride on a rented Honda 50 step-through. I remember that short ride was in Alameda, Ca on a street called Fernside. I was bitten by the bike bug ever since. My dad did not own or ride when I was child.
My dad owned some sort of pre-war Swedish motorcycle when he was a teenager, couldn't tell you the make. Dad passed away in 1991.
Not my dad's bike but check out these 1932 Husqvarna's. I'll bet my dad drooled over these bikes. He may have actually watched this road race.

My story is similar to OP. Grew up behind my Pop on his triumph chop and various other bikes. He bought me my first dirt bike, and handed me down my first street bike.
We had bikes on the road at the same time for a couple of years until we were both involved in seperate serious accidents a week apart and in the hospital at the same. Both of us hit by old ladies who just didn’t see us...
I went back to riding but Dad never did. As far as I know he was never on a bike again.
Old dad is still kicking but he’s had a couple strokes and a couple heart attacks. Tough bastard.. love you Dad. Thanks for showing me the way.

My dad quit riding after a wreck when he was in his late teens. 45 years later his sons all love Harley motorcycles and we all got together and went for a long ride. He asked for a sportster....we rented him a street glide instead...for not touching a motorcycle for over four decades, he did very well. He told us he never would've imagined riding motorcycles with his sons.

My son is my regular passenger. He's a teenager but still can't resist but point out a good looking Harley.

started out riding on the street by borrowing my Dad's bike.

He doesnt ride much, usually busy with other projects at his house, and he cant ride to work as he needs his truck. But we've ridden a few times. I've actually put more miles on my bike riding with my girlfriend's dad

Unfortunately my Dad never rode motorcycles, so I didn't get that experience. But the good side, my son rides with me. He has a Night Train and we've been to 9-10 states together, so its really cool. Looking forward to more rides this summer.

I used to ride with my dad a lot, but that was several years ago. He still has a bike but rarely rides these days. That Fatboy is his bike
