Good for all you guys that are wearing one . I have been an RN for almost thirty years now and worked some time in my local Hospitals ER . Friends and fellow riders really love that pirate look, well good for them . I have seen facial injuries that are horrenous and hideous . Teeth ripped from your mouth, now your being fittted for dentures . Massive facial disfigurement ,you will not be going out in public much because you will scare the children . Your jaw may need to be wired shut for several months . Maybe a hole in the side of your face when your sliding on the pavement . Just a few things I have seen over the years .

I grew up in Chicago. I only wore a helmet if weather dictated it. I've been living in a helmet law state for the last 10 years. I probably will wear a helmet every time I ride now. I've just gotten used to it, and prefer the protection that comes with them. That being said, I have grown VERY fond of Modular helmets. While modulars are not the absolute best money can buy in terms of safety, they are an excellent alternative to not wearing one.

Only wear it when I'm in a state where helmet is required.I totalled an ultra no helmet, got couple of bruises on my face other wise all ok.Wearing a helmet won't prevent you from breaking your neck,I'd rather be dead than be crippled the rest of my life.It should be a choice not a requirement, just my .02.

I grew up riding bikes without a helmet. When I started racing dirt bikes, I wore a helmet of course and I guess it kinda stuck with me after that.
Here in Nebraska, you have to wear a helmet. I wish it wasn't law...I'd still wear one for the most part, but on days I'm running a quick errand in town, it would be nice just to jump on the bike and go.
