Wanted to know if anyone has had experience with carrying a nice SLR camera in your bike's bag. I have a Nikon D5300 which is not cheap, and I was wondering if anyone has carried a camera like this in their bags and if so was there any problem. Was wondering if the vibration was tough on the camera and so forth. Riding and shutterbugging are two of my big hobbies and naturally now that I have the Road King bagger I would like to combine them. I've carried a Canon S100 pocket camera in the bag for quite a while with no problem.

 

Vibration may loosen the screws on the lens mounts on both the camera and lenses, you may need to check them periodically.

Otherwise, wrap them in towels to reduce vibration and cosmetic damage.

 

Yes, Kind of what I was thinking about the towels.

 

I had an issue with a Nikon and a Canon. I switched to an all in one..

 

Put the camera in a plastic freezer bag to prevent scratches (plastic surface is smooth and soft), then wrap in towels to absorb vibration/shock.

 

I did the same on a 6 hr trip. Somehow my shutter time got knocked out

 

 

I had a camera in my deucebag for a week wrapped in a shirt. No problems.

 

Well, to tell the truth, I WOULDN'T carry a camera in my saddlebags. My bike's engine is RIGID mounted and shakes like a 3-legged washing machine. Anything delicate you put in the saddlebags would be shaken to pieces in six hours.

Back when I carried an actual camera, I used the case and strap and slung it over my shoulder.
