Why do bikes still have kill switches.
These days with ignition switches and keys, does it still make sense to have a kill switch on a bike? I never use mine, and haven’t used them since the dirt bike magnito days where that was the only option for stoping the engine. Now the rare times that my kill switch is on, I press the starter a few times and wonder why my bike won’t start for a few seconds.
Whats the purpose of the kill switch these days?

Both bring up good points!
People like to slam Harley or any manufacturer really (Ford, Chevy, etc), for some of the dumb or weird ways they design some things.
Some may not realize the mountains of rules and regulations they have to follow in order to sell these mass produced machines.

A friend had an accident a few years ago in traffic and ended up wedged between two cars. The one on the right was an off-duty cop who reached out of his window and hit the kill switch.
