Default Hit a Car Today

Stupid move on my part as I was trying to be courteous and wave a cager to take the spot in front of me while I was in a long line of cars, with cars on the right fighting to get into the on-ramp lane to feed onto the I-45. I turned my head back and all I saw was the back of a mini-van. Boom! All I remember is flying through the air and landing on my back in a grassy area next to the feeder road. I never did lose consciousness, but I couldn't keep my eyes open. I just remember a lot people being right there after it happened. One of them was another motorcycle rider. He took the photos. Also, he stopped the guy in the brown clothes from taking off my helmet. I remember giving out my phone number and giving out my wife's phone number, so the fellow rider got in touch with me this evening to tell me what happened and he sent the photos, too. I told him I'd never be able to thank him enough for what he did and for being there. It was a great comfort as he kept talking to me, telling me to stay awake and to keep my eyes open. Not that it matters, but he said a truck pulled in front of the mini-van and caused her to slam on her brakes. I was behind her about two car lengths and I could have stopped if I had been looking instead of trying to wave to the cager to pull in, but I know running into the back of someone is my fault and I take responsibility for doing so.

Anyway, I don't know if my bike is going to be okay or not. I can't tell how much damage there is from the photos and I probably won't get to see it for a day or two. I went through the Santa Fe High School shooting yesterday since I work there and now this. They say bad things come in threes, so if the next bad thing is worse than the first two, I'm up sh*t creek without a paddle. Y'all be safe out there!

Glad it did not end up bad for you and good to know you accept responsibility for what happened. Learn from it and be a safer rider.

Damn man, glad to hear you’re ok at the moment, I bet you’re robably gonna be sore in a day or two! Accidents can happen so fast it’s scientifically amazing at times. Like you said, a simple look away and that was all the time needed to put a barrier in your way. I hope you recover quickly!(physically and mentally)
