Default 2006 street glide saddlebags

I have a 2006 street glide with old style latch for the saddlebags. Does anyone know if I can convert these to the push pop up button type or to the newer style easy open lever? If so can someone point me in right direction for where they sell them and how to do it? Thanks in advance.

I went to the new style bags on my 06, super easy mod.

How I take your original post is 'how do I modify my OE bags to accept the late model hardware?'

What cfreeze did, I believe, was change out his complete bags for late model units, which is the common and easy way to get to where you wanna be.

Right off the bat, I don't recall seeing a way to do it your way...using the original bags and changing the latches...but let's see if someone comes up with something!

If you want to keep YOUR bags and do the police conversion, hit up eBay. They have everything you need.

If you can come up with a set of late model (2014 and newer) saddlebags, simple adjustment of your current factory mounting hardware seems to be all that's needed to get the pins to line up and secure the bags with the factory hardware.

Problem with this is that the newer style bags do not fit my older bike.

Ummmm....
Yes they do. There are a lot of threads on these very forums were people are using the new style bags on the older pre-14 touring bikes.

Here's just one of MANY threads were someone asked your exact question and people who actually installed them replied.

ummmmm...... Ok.

I will have to try again. Last bag I tried on my bike was from a 2013, and didn't fit.

Shoulda fit fine...there are quite a number of threads on this forum that state that the Rushmore bags fit the earlier models with only minor tweaking. But the 2013 bags should flop right onto your 2006.
