I love my HD!! No problems!!!!!
In light of the fact that when HD makes 1,000 bikes that run fine, no one says anything about it.
The one where there is an issue, wholly HELL is raised and ppl crap on HD like there is no tomorrow.
Just look thru the threads here in HDF and see how many CRAP on HD threads there are and see how many POSITIVE threads there are.
I know, it is human nature. There may be 500K LEO stops that go WELL in 1 day but the one that does not.........ALL LEOs are painted in the bad light.
You may be in a business where you do a large volume of something. But when 1 of those somethings goes bad, the SH*T hits the fan and it is all over the internet. Or someone is crapping all over you for that 1 off out of a 1,000 or so.
Anyway......................
I owned about 1 used and 3 brand new HD's.
I virtually NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER have a problem with my bikes. Keep in mind, the bike goes in for service as recommended and only HD touches my bike with only 2 exceptions. I ride my bike literally daily.
My bike ALWAYS starts.
My bike NEVER gets a flat.
Turn signals are GREAT!
Breaking system (the entire system) is PERFECT!
Nothing has fallen off the bike though screws have been tightened during a service.
I can go on and on and on.
I presently have a 2017 Ultra Ltd.
My bikes usually rack up 95,000 to 104,000 miles b4 I trade them in. So there is plenty of time for something to go wrong. But does not.
The radio...........EXCELLENT.
The GPS, EXCELLENT (tho in all fairness I do not use theirs much).
The exhaust system (always with Hooker or Reinharts <sp> slip-ons) EXCELLENT!
Clutch and clutching system...........EXCELLENT!
When I travel around the USA/Canada, I have 100% total confidence in the bike ALWAYS!
So as for as I am concerned, I can't say enough GOOD about HD's!

I came back after owning a Big Dog. Every time I went out on that thing I was wondering when it would crap out and half the time it did. It's nice to know I can go out for a ride and know it will be trouble free. After a few months I was comfortable enough to sell my enclosed bike trailer that got regular use with the BD. Until you've had one of them or been married you don't know the true meaning of aggravation.

One dissatisfied customer can do you more damage then 100 satisfied customers can do you good. Alot of what we're seeing here IMO falls under that statement.
Personally, my '17 Sportster has been as reliable as any metric bike I've ever owned, and I've owned quite a few metric bikes. In 40+ years of riding this is my first Harley, it starts every time, nothing has fallen off, and the fit and finish, especially the paint is light years ahead of any metric bike. Plus it has that Harley Davidson mechanical music to it no metric bike will ever have. If I were to have any gripe it would be Harley needs to be better at hiding/relocating some of the electrical connections. That is a minor thing, and I am 100% satisfied with the bike.

Go to any enthusiast website and you’ll find lots of complaining about problems. When I rode Goldwings I was on a couple of Goldwing forums and they had just as many complainers as we do. How did we ever survive without the internet? Turn off your computer and just hang out with other Harley riders for a while and you’ll find they’re pretty much all satisfied customers. None of the people I actually ride with have anything bad to say about their bikes or about HD in general for the most part. Hell, if I didn’t like my Harley so much I’d get rid of it and buy another Honda or Yamaha.
